The short version: Saudade has no accounts and no server of its own. Your photos, the names of the people or places you miss, and your dates stay on your device — they are never uploaded to us or to anyone. We collect only anonymous, aggregate usage analytics and technical crash diagnostics so we can fix bugs and improve the app.
Who we are
Saudade is an iOS app that shows a widget counting the time since — or until — you see someone (or somewhere) you love. It is operated by MARCO ANTONIO RAMOS CARDOSO BRAGA CONSULTORIA EM TECNOLOGIA DA INFORMACAO LTDA (CNPJ 41.348.096/0001-60), based in Brazil, which is the controller responsible for your personal data. For any privacy question or data request, contact privacy@getsaudade.com.
What stays on your device
Everything you create in Saudade — photos, names, last-seen and reunion dates, themes, and notes — is stored locally on your iPhone (in an app-private App Group container shared only between the app and its widget). This content is never transmitted to us, never uploaded to a server, and never shared with third parties. If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.
What we collect
- Usage analytics (via TelemetryDeck). Anonymous, aggregated signals about how the app is used — for example that an onboarding step was completed or a paywall was viewed. These are not linked to your identity and cannot be used to identify you. TelemetryDeck is a privacy-focused analytics service that does not build cross-app profiles.
- Crash & error diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics, a Google service). When the app crashes or hits an error, we receive technical diagnostics (device model, OS version, a stack trace, and a per-install identifier used to group crash reports) so we can fix it. These reports do not contain your photos or the people you miss. You can turn off automatic crash reporting in Settings. The change takes effect the next time you open the app. While reporting is off, Crashlytics keeps new crash information on the device; it may send those cached reports if you turn reporting on again.
- Purchases (via Apple StoreKit). Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. We receive only your subscription status (active or not) to unlock premium features. We never see or store your payment details — Apple handles all billing.
What we do not collect
No account, name, email, phone number, or password (there is no sign-in). No location. No contacts. No advertising identifier (IDFA) and no ad or tracking SDKs. We do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell your data.
Third parties who process data for us
- TelemetryDeck — anonymous product analytics (EU-based).
- Google (Firebase Crashlytics) — crash and error diagnostics.
- Apple — App Store distribution and StoreKit purchases, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data under the GDPR (EU/UK), the LGPD (Brazil), and the CCPA/CPRA (California) — including the right to access, correct, or delete your data and to object to processing. Because the data you create never leaves your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly by editing or deleting content in the app, or by deleting the app. For the limited analytics and diagnostics described above, or any other request, contact privacy@getsaudade.com and we will respond within the timeframes required by law. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
Legal basis (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving a stable, secure app for the minimal analytics and crash diagnostics described above; purchases are processed to perform our contract with you.
Data retention
Content you create is kept on your device until you delete it. Usage analytics and crash diagnostics are retained by our processors only as long as needed for the purposes above and then deleted or aggregated.
International transfers
Our processors may handle service data on servers outside your country (including the EU and the US) under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Children
Saudade is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
